Boise Born

Thank you to all those who reached out to make sure I wasn’t dead after missing 2 newsletters in a row. I’m fine, I was just pretending to be independently wealthy… To make up for it we have THREE new designs this week. We are saluting those extra special, top shelf, chosen by a higher power, elite breed of people. I am of course talking about those that were actually born in Boise. (Cue the beaming light and angels singing.) No doubt, by now, if you aren’t one of them, you have come across one, and they politely informed you that they were born here and that they had slightly more ownership of this town than those who were unable, as an unborn child, to choose the geographical location from whence they emerged into the world.

I’m not throwing shade on anyone born here, of course not. Like everyone else not born here, I’m jealous and resentful because there is nothing I can do to change my place of birth. It’s sad and depressing. I have, however, broken the chain of unfortunate choices made by generations before me and made sure my children were granted the honor of being born in Boise. Thank God, may they know how fortunate they are. Imagine the disgrace if I had been on vacation and they were born in California?!? That’s why they advise you not to travel if you are pregnant.

We have a few options. First is the beautiful “Born in Boise Trophy” to gift or to buy for yourself. Put it on your car so everyone knows not only do you live in 1A, but you were actually birthed here.

Second is the “Born in Boise Blue Ribbon Award” to give that person who needs even more recognition for making their debut in the City of Trees.

And lastly, for those over-sharers who need to take it one step further, or for the parents who want to ruin their child's day, we bring you the “Conceived in Boise” option.

We won’t be checking birth certificates, so these won’t in fact be legally binding forms of identification. And just a reminder, you don’t have to be born in Boise to be a Boise OG. A Boise OG is one who appreciates the past, present and future of our beautiful, and sometimes absurd city we call home.

Sincerely yours,
—Heidi
