BOOK IT!

Hello to all! Remember when Pizza Hut was like the best pizza you could get? It was like a million dollars for a large and if you dined in you had to wait like 3 hours? And what about those awesome rubber Land Before Time hand puppets? The invention of the stuffed crust pizza? To be honest, due to budget constraints we were more of a Little Caesar’s household. But that all changed with the “Book It” reading program. Free pizza for reading books? Sure!

Ok, I know this wasn’t a Boise exclusive thing but I know every Boise OG has a special place in their heart for the warm memories of a personal pan pizza earned through their dedication to literacy and reading. My early book go-tos were the Boxcar Kids (who didn’t fantasize about being parentless?) I also dabbled in Goosebumps and later, Fear Street as my tastes matured. When it came to “Book It” shorter was better, quantity over quality. A girl’s gotta eat.

Now I mostly just listen to self help audio books and pay for my own pizza... On the bright side I think Pizza Hut is only like $10 now, but no puppets... Remember how much we wanted to be adults when we were kids?

We didn’t know what we had.

P.S. Also, remember the Burger King BK Kids 100% Club? Free burger for a 100% on a test? I had to provide for Kelly on that one.
