Pollo Rey

In our beautiful city that seems so divided lately, I think the one thing we can all come together on is the fact that WE WANT POLLO REY BACK!!!! It’s not gonna happen, but most things people fight for never happen. I’m basically a motivational speaker... also available for life coaching...

For those of you who are starting to lose your memory (or are not from here), Pollo Rey was located at 8th and Idaho downtown, where Diablo and Sons is now. Great location for people watching, quick office lunch, or late night 1 lb. burrito baby.

Now for your Boise OG Spanish lesson, Cowboy Curtis style. Can you say “Poh-yoh-ray"? Keep practicing (it means Chicken King). Thanks Señora Jones at North Jr. High!!! Also that other super weird old guy Spanish teacher I had in the basement of Boise High... Sorry I don’t remember your name, or much Spanish, but I do remember the avocado green carpet and poor lighting.

Pollo Rey may be the Chicken King, but they were famous for their fish burritos wrapped up in shiny foil and a paper bag full of chips. Also a great salsa bar. We miss you Pollo Rey!!! Writing all this is actually making me more nostalgic for the .49¢ bean burritos at Taco Bell. I have pretty simple tastes and am very classy.

See yah! Heidi
